Mexican palm

Mexican palm is known for fast rate of growth. Mexican palms grow up to 100 feet tall. It is the tallest palm of all the palms. It is easy recognizable for height and straight, tall trunk.
Other names: Mexican fan palm, Washington palm and schentific name Washingtonia Robusta.
Washingtonia rubusta is not native to North America. It is native to Northern mexico, Baja and Southern California.

Palmate and pinnate palms

All palm tree can be divided into two groups: palm trees with feather-like leaves and palm trees with palmate leaves.
Palm trees with pinnate fronds (feathered palms) have leaves that resemble a feather, leaflets are arranged on each side of a common axis.
Palms with palmate leaves resemble an open hand, the leaflets radiate from a common point.
And there is a small group of palm trees which has compound leaves, something between pinnate and palmate. They have appearance of a feather but are fan-compound.
